Job summary

Leer, Inc. in New Lisbon, Wisconsin, is seeking a Design Engineer to drive the full lifecycle of product designs from concept through production.

You will develop improvements, validate critical design parameters, and collaborate with the product development team, suppliers and manufacturing to meet cost, timeline and specification targets. A BS in engineering, deep manufacturing fluency (sheet metal, weldments, machining) and SolidWorks CAD proficiency are required.

Qualifications

Engineering Foundation: BS in engineering or equivalent with at least 2 years product design experience.
Manufacturing Fluency: Deep understanding of sheet metal fabrication, stampings, aluminum and steel weldments, and precision machining.
CAD Expertise: Advanced 3D Solid modeling; SolidWorks experience preferred.
Project Agility: Thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
Problem-Solving Mindset: Experience in engineering project management and efficiency.
Technical Extras: Experience with Refrigeration, Electro-Mechanical design, or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
Global Mindset: Willingness to travel up to 10% internationally to support global partners.
Must be results-driven: Self-motivated with a track record of meeting milestones.
Soft Skills: Ability to build strong working relationships across the organization.

Responsibilities

Drive the full life cycle of new product designs, subassemblies, and components.
Develop product improvements as extensions or cost-saving measures.
Calculate and validate critical design parameters for safe and cost-effective designs.
Collaborate with development teams, consultants, suppliers, and manufacturing to meet targets.
Prepare 3D CAD models and drawings for components and assemblies.
Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including BOMs and work instructions.
Support production to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost.
Contribute to cross-functional initiatives in a collaborative team environment.
