Gonzalez Companies is seeking a Design Engineer in Dayton, OH to join our civil/municipal team. You will develop engineering designs for infrastructure, water, wastewater, and building systems, perform analyses, and prepare drawings using CAD/BIM tools.

This early-career role targets 2–4 years of relevant experience, with an Engineer‑in‑Training preferred. You will work with seasoned professionals on a range of projects, gaining hands-on scope from design through project delivery and client

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant engineering design experience (level can be adjusted based on role seniority).
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Experience with design and analysis tools relevant to discipline (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydraulic modeling software, or MEP design tools).

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs, plans, and specifications for infrastructure, site development, water/wastewater, and/or building systems projects.
• Perform technical analyses, calculations, and modeling to support design decisions across disciplines.
• Prepare construction drawings and documents using CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit).
• Coordinate design efforts with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental).
• Review project requirements, codes, and regulations for compliance with standards.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, permitting documents, and engineering studies.
• Support project managers with scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and progress tracking.
• Conduct site visits and data collection to inform design and verify conditions.
