Job summary

Indus Mind Networks is recruiting an experienced automotive packaging engineer to own mechanical architecture from concept to production. You will translate vehicle-level requirements into validated geometry, solving packaging constraints while meeting mass, structural, and cost targets, working remotely.

You will lead 3D CAD development for subsystems (body, chassis, or packaging) and ensure GD&T-compliant drawings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of automotive engineering design experience shipping production parts.
  • Advanced modeling proficiency in CATIA (V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE) or Siemens NX.
  • Demonstrated track record taking metallic and polymer structural components from initial packaging space through tooling freeze and PPAP.
  • Exacting command of GD&T, kinematic packaging, fastener design, and vehicle assembly processes.
  • Proven capacity to manage projects autonomously with distributed cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 3D CAD development and detailed drafting for automotive subsystems (body, chassis, or packaging).
  • Apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards to generate fully constrained drawings.
  • Perform 1D and 3D tolerance stack-up analyses for fit across thermal and dynamic extremes.
  • Collaborate with CAE teams to digest FEA, NVH, and crash results and iterate geometry.
  • Coordinate with Tier 1 suppliers and internal manufacturing to resolve DFM/DFA constraints.
  • Drive engineering release milestones, ECOs, and BOM accuracy within Teamcenter.

Job description

You will own the mechanical architecture and detailed component design for next-generation vehicle systems from clean-sheet concept through production release. Working remotely, you will translate vehicle-level functional requirements into validated, production-ready geometry, solving complex packaging constraints while hitting aggressive mass, structural, and cost targets.

Responsibilities
  • Lead 3D CAD development and detailed drafting for automotive subsystems (body, chassis, or electromechanical packaging) using CATIA V5/3DX or Siemens NX.

  • Apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards to generate fully constrained, inspection-ready component and assembly drawings.

  • Execute 1D and 3D tolerance stack-up analyses to guarantee kinematic clearance, fit, and flush requirements across thermal and dynamic operating extremes.

  • Collaborate with CAE teams to digest FEA, NVH, and crash simulation results, rapidly iterating geometry to optimize stiffness and energy absorption.

  • Partner with Tier 1 suppliers and internal manufacturing engineers to resolve DFM and DFA constraints for high-pressure die castings, stampings, and injection-molded plastics.

  • Drive engineering release milestones, change orders (ECOs), and BOM accuracy within Teamcenter.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of automotive engineering design experience shipping production parts on passenger, commercial, or performance vehicle programs.

  • Advanced modeling proficiency in CATIA (V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE) or Siemens NX, including complex parametric solids and surface modeling.

  • Demonstrated track record taking metallic and polymer structural components from initial packaging space through tooling freeze and PPAP.

  • Exacting command of GD&T, kinematic packaging, fastener design, and vehicle assembly processes.

  • Proven capacity to manage projects autonomously with distributed cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Direct experience packaging EV powertrains, high-voltage battery enclosures, or thermal management loops.

  • Ability to run preliminary linear-static FEA using Altair, Ansys, or integrated CAD solvers.

  • Working knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, or equivalent international homologation standards.

What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary with equity participation and performance bonuses.

  • 100% remote work flexibility with a dedicated home-office and high-performance CAD hardware stipend.

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage with fully subsidized employee premiums.

  • Flexible time off with dedicated company-wide shutdowns.

  • Direct involvement in physical vehicle testing, prototype builds, and supplier track events throughout the development lifecycle.
