Job summary

Custom Truck One Source seeks an engineer to design and analyze mechanical structures for truck-mounted equipment. You will work from concept through detailing, using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, while coordinating with procurement for prototypes and testing teams for validation.

Responsibilities include evaluating weight/balance, creating drawings, and supporting publications. A minimum 2+ years in engineering plus a bachelor's in mechanical fields is required, with ERP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Proficient in 3D/2D CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of welded steel structures and structural design.
• Understanding and use of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, etc).

Responsibilities

• Own design and analysis of mechanical structures and components.
• Understand BOM structures and manage related tasks.
• Develop new products using SolidWorks; create detailing drawings.
• Collaborate with procurement to order prototype parts and manage prototyping.
• Create test procedures; work with testing to implement structural and stability testing.
• Modify designs based on test results.
• Evaluate machine weight and balance for roadworthiness and crane stability.
• Create sales support drawings.
• Analyze product failures and develop repairs/redesigns.
• Assist technical publications with manuals and service materials.
• Review ECRs and recommend approvals/rejections.
• Create ECOs and provide implementation recommendations.

SUMMARY

• Design mechanical structures and systems for truck mounted equipment that meet the applicable standards andtoperformthefollowingduties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ownership of design and analysis of mechanical structures and components.
• DeepunderstandingofBillofMaterial(BOM)structures.
• Developnew products using3Dsolidmodelingsoftware(SolidWorks).
• Createdetaildrawingsof3Dmodels(SolidWorks).
• Workwithprocurementteamtoorder prototypepartsandmanagecreationofprototypes.
• Createtestproceduresandworkwithtestingdepttoimplementfunctional,structural,andstabilitytesting.
• Makemodificationstonewdesignsbasedonresultsoftesting.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+years’experienceinanengineeringcapacity.
• Bachelor’sDegreeinMechanicalEngineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Proficientinengineeringdesignsoftware–3Dand2D(SolidWorksandAutoCADpreferred).
• ProficientinMicrosoftOffice.
• StructuralDesign–Weldedsteelstructures.
• Understanding and use of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, xetc).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Two (2) years of engineering experience in manufacturing environmentor,
• Two (2) years of engineering experience in automotive design related field or,
• Two (2) years of engineering experience in vocational truck assembly.
• Ability to identify complex build challenges and implement solutions quickly and correctly.
• Ability to weld.
• Ability to understand 12V electrical systems.
• Ability to understand hydraulic plumbing systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must also possess the ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.
