Job summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Design Engineer for a contract opportunity in Orlando, FL. The engineer will design CCAs, select connectors and components, and manage drawings using Windchill. The role requires Creo parametric experience and strong problem solving skills.

Responsibilities include developing layouts, ensuring manufacturability, coordinating with other teams, and producing high-quality design documentation for integration and testing in an aerospace/defense context.

Qualifications

  • - 3+ years designing Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) using Creo parametric.
  • - 3+ years CCA design experience.
  • - 3+ years hands-on with Zuken, IPC standards, and aerospace/defense product cycles.
  • - Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Role will involve connector and component selection and layout on CCA, IDX file creation and release of all resulting drawings and documentation using Windchill.
  • Designs major components, or major portions of a functional system, or technically advanced prototype, promotional or specific products.
  • Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
  • Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
  • Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
  • Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products.
  • Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
  • Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
  • Harness design experience using Zuken E3 is a plus.
  • Must have 3+ years of experience designing Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) using Creo parametric.
  • Must have 3+ years of CCA DESIGN EXPERIENCE.
  • Must have at least 3 years of hands on experience with Zuken, IPC standards, and aerospace/defense product cycles
  • Must have a Bachelor degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and project management skills are a must, as is the ability to produce high quality design documentation and guide test and integration activities.
