Job summary

Neaton Auto Products Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a 2D/3D Automotive Plastic Injection Product Designer to join our Marysville, Ohio team. The role emphasizes design for manufacturability, Catia V5 and 3Dx.V6 CAD work, and collaboration with internal design managers and customers.

The position reports to the Design Manager and requires a four-year engineering degree or equivalent experience, with potential exposure to APQP and various automotive certifications.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior experience interfacing with Automotive OEMs.
• Prefer prior experience in Plastic Injection part design with 3D CAD.

Responsibilities

• Interface with project manager concerning design specifications and other facets of the project.
• 2D/3D CAD (Catia V5/3Dx.V6, Design, Surfacing, Solids, Wireframe) employment of design tooling.
• Development and Release Engineering Change Notices.
• Participate in customer meetings and supplier interface.
• Support prototype build and delivery to the customer.
• APQP support and adherence to program certifications.

Primary Role in the Organization:

2D / 3D Automotive Plastic Injection Product Design and Development.

Design for Manufacturability (Best Practices)

Reports To: Manager, Design

Responsibilities

• 1.) Interface with project manager concerning design specifications and other facets of
• 2.) 2D / 3D CAD (Catia V5/3Dx.V6, Design, Surfacing, Solids, Wireframe, Section View Creation
• 3.) Development and Release Engineering Change Notices
• 5.) Participating in Customer meetings and Supplier interface
• 6.) Support Prototype Build and Delivery to the Customer
• 7.) APQP support
• 8.) Support all programs and certifications obtained by Neaton (i.e.; J-Sox, TS16949, and ISO14001)

Qualifications

• Experience “Prefer” Prior experience in Automotive OEM interfacing
• “Prefer” Prior experience Automotive “Plastic Injection” Part Design with 3D CAD

Education”

Four Year Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.

Physical Demands

• Keyboarding, sitting, walking, bending and standing. No unusual requirements for physical strength other than normal office activities.
• Demonstrates the ability to consistently meet the dept. work schedules and be flexible with hours if required.

Equipment Usage

• Ability to use gauges and/or other design equipment effectively.

Mental/Cognitive Demands

• Working knowledge of Automotive Interior plastics Prefer and plastic injection molds.
• Ability to read and understand assembly drawings.
• Analytical ability to reason out design concepts.
