Job summary

Wall Industries is seeking an engineer to design and develop power supplies from concept through production. The role involves turning customer or internal specifications into complete engineering solutions, interfacing with Sales/Marketing, and generating fabrication documentation for prototypes and production.

The candidate will test models, verify performance under environmental conditions, and collaborate with manufacturing to ensure successful transfer to production with adherence to ISO

Qualifications

  • Advanced analog design techniques including magnetic design
  • Power supply layout and packaging with CAD documentation verification
  • Power applications and interpretation of system power specifications
  • Stress analysis and manufacturing techniques for power supplies
  • Agency approvals: UL, CSA, VDE, TUV
  • ISO experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Designs power supplies from inception to final product.
  • Interprets customer specifications and interfaces with Sales/Marketing.
  • Generates preliminary fabrication documentation for prototypes and testing.
  • Tests prototype models to environmental conditions for reliability.
  • Uses oscilloscopes, electronic loads, bench‑top supplies and test fixtures.
  • Prototyping includes fixture/tool design for manufacturing.
  • Provides instructions for transfer from engineering to manufacturing.
  • Adheres to ISO policies and company rules.
  • Maintains records and reports for supervision.

Job description

Wall Industries manufactures and markets a full line of DC‑DC converters and AC‑DC power supplies with an emphasis on modified standard and customized power solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for 100% of the design generation of power supplies from inception to final product.
  • Design from documentation supplied by customers and/or internal specification.
  • Interface with Sales/Marketing and customers as required.
  • Generate preliminary documentation for fabrication of prototype models (may include fabricating, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing analog and digital circuits).
  • Test product models—whether actual or prototype (breadboard)—to environmental conditions to establish operational stability, reliability and conformity to design.
  • Work will be performed using oscilloscopes, voltage meters, electronic loads, bench‑top power supplies, test fixtures, environmental ovens and other electronic associated equipment.
  • Prototyping will include recommending, designing and possibly fabricating fixtures, tools and equipment for the manufacture of the product.
  • Generate instructional information for the manufacturer of the product being transferred from engineering to manufacturing.
  • Follow ISO policy and procedures throughout all work performed.
  • Make effective and efficient use of all resources, including inventory material, supplies, tools and tooling equipment.
  • Consult supervisor when unusual conditions exist and safety issues arise.
  • Maintain necessary records, files and reports for the immediate supervisor.
  • Practice good housekeeping in your area.
  • Properly maintain equipment in good working order, including reporting un‑calibrated equipment.
  • Follow established company rules and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Interface with other departments, vendors, and manufacturers as required.
Qualifications
  • Education: Four‑year degree in Electronics preferred or 6+ years in power supply industry experience.
  • Experience: Three years experience or equivalent experience as design engineer of power conversion circuits. ISO experience a plus.
  • Skills: Must be completely familiar with advanced analog design techniques including magnetic design and theory, power supply layout and packaging including verification of CAD-generated documentation, power applications and interpretation of system power specification, component engineering including stress factor analysis, manufacturing techniques related to power supply manufacturer, agency approvals: UL, CSA, VDE, TUV. Capable of making logical sequential steps in performance of work and requiring a minimum of supervision and direction.
