Job summary

Skeeter Products, Inc. seeks an experienced mechanical product designer to join the engineering team. You will define form, function, and aesthetics, create and maintain assembly drawings, and support manufacturing with robust 3D models.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in product design or design engineering, a B.S. in engineering, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Rhino), and experience with DFM and cross-functional collaboration to drive cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years experience in a product design or design engineering role.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Must have mechanical product design experience using solid modeling applications.
• Proficient with 3D CAD software and advanced surface modeling is a must.
• Strong working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment is a must.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualizes and defines form, function, aesthetics, and end user interface while meeting criteria for features, cost, manufacturability, and schedules.
• Creates and maintains engineering and assembly drawings, parts manuals and build procedures.
• Take concept renderings and convert to Class-A surface models.
• Create solid models and 2D drawings for manufacturing.
• Reverse engineer using SolidWorks/Rhino 3D models from scan data.
• Collaborate with design team to implement inputs into designs.
• Research, develop, and recommend materials for construction and manufacturing processes.
• Perform routine engineering calculations including stress analysis, fit analysis, and tolerance stack-ups.
• Review designs for cost, manufacturing and quality improvements.
• Assist in prototype development and product testing.

Position Summary

Conceptualizes and defines all aspects of form, function, aesthetics, and end user interface, while meeting defined criteria for product features, cost, manufacturability, and project schedules. Creates and maintains all engineering and assembly drawings, parts manuals and build procedures.

Essential Functions

• Product Design and Development
• Taking concept renderings and conceptual surface models to Class-A surface levels.
• Utilizing Solidworks to create solid models and 2D drawings necessary for manufacturing parts.
• Utilizing Solidworks/Rhino 3D models based on scan data through reverse engineering.
• Working with the engineering design team to create designs from written and verbal input.
• Researching, developing and/or recommending materials for construction and manufacturing processes.
• Performing routine engineering calculations including stress analysis, fit analysis and tolerance stack-ups.
• Continually reviewing current designs for cost effectiveness, manufacturing and quality improvements.
• Working directly with project managers and the research and development department on multiple projects.
• Assisting in prototype development and product testing.
• Prioritizing work duties, and following through on action items.
