Job summary

Skeeter Products, Inc. is seeking an engineering professional to own lamination, gelcoat, flotation foam, and mold maintenance. Design lamination schedules, set cut sheets and weight targets, and ensure process controls align with new product designs.

This hands-on role requires a degree in engineering, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work across Production and Engineering in a fast-paced team. DOE applies with a salary range of $70,000–$80,000.

We're looking for someone with a Bachelor's or Associates degree in Engineering along with knowledge of fiberglass lamination, gel coat properties, and floatation foam properties to join our dynamic team and help us continue producing world-class boats.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Engineering responsibility for Lamination, Gelcoat, Flotation foam, and Mold Maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Design and develop lamination schedules for new and existing product.
• Create and maintain lamination cut sheets, stroke targets, and part weight targets.
• Knowledgeable of gelcoat properties, application, and equipment.
• Knowledgeable of flotation foam properties, application, and equipment.
• Knowledgeable of structural adhesives properties, application, and equipment.
• Create, modify, and review process control details relating to new products or product design changes.
• Provide direction to CI Techs for documenting Standard Work Instructions.
• Provide technical assistance, and training for CI Techs on new or revised processes and procedures.
• Review and approve Standard Work Instructions created by CI Techs.
• Provide input to keep bills of materials updated.
• Document changes in product assembly in BOM and work instructions.
• Investigate and resolve variances to standards.
• Prepare and implement countermeasures against quality problems.
• Coordinate and facilitate new product start-ups including planning for new equipment and fixtures and developing specifications.
• Research, develop and implement new manufacturing methods and techniques to optimize manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Test cost reduction ideas to ensure no compromises are made in product/process quality, safety, or workability - develops countermeasures if necessary.
• Work with Mold Maintenance to develop new mold care techniques, stripping, sealing, and waxing.
• Create and provide engineering build standards.
• Act as liaison between Production and Engineering.
• Be hands on and willing to teach and demonstrate proper techniques shop floor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Bachelor's or Associates degree in Engineering or related field. Certain combinations of formal education and work experience could be adequate.
• Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects without supervision.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with the ability to effectively prioritize.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter and able to work in a fast-paced team environment

SALARY:

$70,000 - $80,000 DOE
