Job summary

Florida Turbine Technologies seeks a Design Engineer to design and analyze aircraft electrical, mechanical, propulsion, and component structures using CAD (Siemens NX). You will collaborate across disciplines to ensure design integrity from concept through development, participate in design reviews, and define test requirements for engine builds and testing.

Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD; Siemens NX proficiency.
  • Exposure to turbomachinery components (airfoils, disks, shafts).
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Ability to create design layouts, assign tolerances, and perform tolerance stacks.
  • Ability to evaluate material options based on properties and application.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technically.

Responsibilities

  • Use CAD (Siemens NX) to produce initial designs and specs for gas turbine/rotating machinery components.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new/modified aircraft system designs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integrity from concept to development.
  • Document changes through an engineering change notification process.
  • Participate in design reviews and solve complex analytical problems.
  • Define test requirements and analyze data for engine builds and testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

General Job Summary: Designs and analyzes aircraft electrical, mechanical, propulsion, and component structures, systems and processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) to produce initial design and specifications for gas turbine/rotating machinery components.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified aircraft system designs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integrity from concept to development.
  • Document changes through a formal engineering change notification process.
  • Participate in design reviews, solving complex and analytical problems.
  • Define test requirements and analyze data for engine builds and testing.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, specifically Siemens NX.
  • Exposure to turbomachinery including airfoils, disks, and shafts.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing processes and experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Ability to create a design layout, assign component tolerances, and perform tolerance stacks.
  • Able to trade component material options based on material properties and component application.
  • Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with peers, supervisors, and the public, including maintaining respect for others and following company policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • BS/MS in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Office and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions (keyboard, mouse, phones, rotating wrist, using tools/equipment).
