Job summary

McClure Engineering is seeking an entry‑level drafting/designer to support design and layout tasks, including duct/pipe sizing and routing, equipment room layouts, and flow diagrams.

You will review drawings, coordinate with engineers and designers, and perform field inspections to verify site conditions, ensuring compliance with codes and internal standards. This role emphasizes initiative, learning, and collaboration with clients and staff.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or be in the process of completing first year of Associate’s Degree in Drafting, Design or Related Field.
• Taken courses for design/drafting which may include the design, layout and sizing of mechanical piping and ductwork for building systems
• Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD® and/or Revit
• Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Naturally curious; Takes initiative and ownership of work
• Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

• Design and layout functions for the project (duct/pipe sizing and routing; equipment room layout; flow diagrams)
• Coordinate with designers, drafters, and engineers
• Review drawings for proper practices, quality, clarity, and consistency with office standards and building codes
• Perform field inspections to verify and document existing site conditions
• Coordinate equipment locations and share project information with other disciplines and clients
• Coordinate with internal and external members of the design team, including firm staff, client owners and architects
