Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of experience managing large-scale facility design projects in semiconductor/industrial environments.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and architectural teams.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor facility infrastructure and systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Design Execution Plan (DEP).
• Manage facility design from conceptual development through Issued for Construction (IFC).
• Serve as primary point of contact for design consultants, engineering teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, fire protection, process utility, gas, chemical, water, wastewater, and exhaust system designs.
• Lead 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC design review milestones.
• Manage consultant scopes, RFPs, deliverables, and proposal evaluations.
• Track and resolve RFIs, submittals, design comments, and design changes.
• Lead multidisciplinary coordination meetings and drive issue resolution.
• Monitor design schedules and project milestones.
• Facilitate constructability reviews and design coordination efforts.
• Provide leadership updates regarding design status, risks, decisions, and open issues.
• Support construction teams with design clarifications and issue resolution.
• Maintain project design documentation throughout lifecycle.

This position will be based in the Phoenix and Peoria, Arizona area during construction and will transition to the Peoria facility upon commencement of operations

Position Summary

The Design Director will lead and manage facility design activities for a multi-phase semiconductor manufacturing expansion project in Arizona. This role serves as the primary interface between architectural and engineering firms, facility teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure design deliverables meet project requirements, schedule milestones, and operational objectives.

The Design Director will oversee design execution, multidisciplinary coordination, design reviews, schedule management, issue resolution, and tool installation readiness throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Design Execution Plan (DEP)
• Manage facility design from conceptual development through Issued for Construction (IFC)
• Serve as the primary point of contact for design consultants, engineering teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders
• Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, fire protection, process utility, gas, chemical, water, wastewater, and exhaust system designs
• Lead 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC design review milestones
• Manage consultant scopes, RFPs, deliverables, and proposal evaluations

• Provide leadership updates regarding design status, risks, decisions, and open issues
• Support construction teams with design clarifications and issue resolution
• Maintain project design documentation throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline
• 8+ years of experience managing large-scale facility design projects within semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, industrial, or mission-critical environments
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and architectural teams
• Strong understanding of semiconductor facility infrastructure and systems
• Familiarity with cleanroom environments and process utility systems
• Experience managing design reviews and engineering document control processes
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
• Experience working with external design consultants and contractors
• Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and project management platforms
• PE license or Project Management certification preferred
