Great Dane is seeking a Machine Design Engineer to design and improve manufacturing equipment used in production environments. You will lead projects from concept through implementation, collaborating with manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure safe, reliable capital equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred).
• Experience with fabrication, machining, weldments, and sheet metal.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFMA).
• Hands-on approach with equipment builds and troubleshooting.
• Experience taking designs from concept through production.

Responsibilities

• Design custom manufacturing equipment, machinery, and automation systems using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Develop mechanical assemblies, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
• Design components including weldments, sheet metal, machined parts, fixtures, and tooling.
• Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and production implementation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety.
• Participate in equipment commissioning, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Machine Design Engineer | Automation & Manufacturing Equipment

This is NOT a product design engineering role.

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience designing manufacturing equipment, industrial machinery, capital equipment, automation systems, or custom machines. If your background is primarily in consumer products, automotive components, or aerospace product design, this likely isn't the right opportunity.

What You'll Do:

As a Machine Design Engineer, you'll design and improve manufacturing equipment used in a production environment. You'll own projects from concept through implementation while working closely with manufacturing, technicians, suppliers, and cross‑functional engineering teams.

• Design custom manufacturing equipment, machinery, and automation systems using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
• Develop mechanical assemblies, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation
• Design components including weldments, sheet metal, machined parts, fixtures, and tooling
