Job summary

Plants & Goodwin, Inc. is seeking a Derrickman to safely perform all manual labor tasks on the workover rig floor under supervision. You will operate rig equipment, assist with rig up/down and tool handling, and help maintain the rig and work area.

Responsibilities include housekeeping, safety participation, and daily maintenance of equipment. Must have 1–3 years on a well service rig and a valid CDL or ability to obtain one.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years’ experience working on a well service rig.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license, CDL, or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to perform manual labor and operate rig equipment safely.
• Able to comply with DOT regulations and safety requirements.
• Flexible schedule and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Daily operation of the workover rig and support equipment.
• Assist in mobilization and rigging up/down of the workover rig.
• Operate tongs and slips to connect/disconnect drill pipe and tools.
• Maintain equipment and work area on the drill floor.
• Perform rig up/down procedures and BOP system care.
• Keep work area clean; assist in tool preparation and lubrication.
• Participate in JSA and tailgate meetings as scheduled.
• Support day-to-day site operations as assigned.

The job of the Derrickman is to safely and efficiently perform all manual labor tasks on the workover rig floor. The Derrickman works under the supervision of the Service Rig Operator but reports directly to the Rig Supervisor. The Derrickman's responsibilities include:

• Daily operation of the workover rig and support equipment
• Assist in the mobilization and rigging up and down of the workover rig
• Operating of the tongs and slips to connect and dis-connect drill pipe, tubulars, casing and drill bits or tools
• Performing all maintenance of the equipment and physical space of the drill floor
• Rig up and down procedures, nipple up and down and care of the B.O.P. system
• Performing housekeeping activities on the workover floor including washing, chipping and painting
• Participate in JSA and tail gate meetings as scheduled
• Assist in preparing tools necessary for job
• Washing of trucks and equipment as needed
• Assist in the day-to-day lubrication and minor adjustments of equipment
• Assist in the daily inspection and maintenance of equipment
• Other duties as assigned.
