The Department of Dermatology at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is seeking a highly organized and motivated professional to support the operations and growth of its Dermatopathology Laboratory. As part of one of the fastest-growing clinical departments within the School of Medicine, the laboratory provides specialized diagnostic services that support patient care across UCI Health and the broader community.
Under the direction of department and laboratory leadership, the Dermatopathology Business Manager is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day administrative and business operations of the laboratory. The incumbent works closely with faculty, laboratory staff, clinical teams, and external partners to support efficient workflows, maintain operational effectiveness, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
The position assists with financial management activities, including monitoring revenues and expenses, preparing reports, tracking key performance metrics, and supporting budgeting processes. The Business Manager helps identify operational and financial improvement opportunities and provides analysis to support departmental decision-making. A successful candidate would be willing and able to step in to assist with day to day operational roles in this small growing laboratory as needed.
In addition, the incumbent supports business development and outreach efforts designed to expand laboratory services within the community. Responsibilities include assisting with client relationship management, supporting contract administration, coordinating marketing and outreach initiatives, and helping identify opportunities for growth. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills and thrive in a collaborative healthcare environment.
