Job summary

CGH Medical Center is seeking a licensed practical nurse to provide professional nursing care in a medical office setting. Under the Illinois Nursing Act and supervision of the physician or office RN, you will gather data, document in EMR, and support patient care across pediatric to geriatric populations.

You will perform nursing tasks, instruct patients and families, and assist with charting and coding for billing. CGH offers extensive benefits and a culture focused on extraordinary care.

Qualifications

• Gathers data by physical assessment and documents in chart or EMR.
• Reports problems based on assessment to the physician.
• Suggests nursing actions to prevent or reduce health problems.
• Performs basic nursing care under physician or RN direction.
• Shares observations with the physician regarding progress toward goals.
• Instructs patient and family on medications and treatment directions.
• Documents notes with name, title, date and time; chart signed by provider.
• Assigns ICD-10 codes on charge sheets or in EMR; monitors CPT coding.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Gathers data by physical assessment of patients.

• Performs basic nursing care under direction of physician/RN.
• Shares progress observations with the physician.
• Instructs patient and family on medication and treatment directions.
• Charts on behalf of the provider in the exam room with date/time and entry details.
• Ensures chart is signed off by the provider.
• Assigns ICD-10 codes for billing and monitors CPT coding.
