Phothera Phototherapy seeks a high-performing Dermatology Sales Specialist to launch and grow an Illinois-Indiana territory, primarily serving the Chicago metro area. This field-based role requires four or more days per week visiting practices with occasional overnight travel.
You will educate clinicians on home phototherapy, develop provider relationships, and drive adoption across Illinois and Indiana. You will build a territory business plan, identify high-potential accounts, and manage
Location: Chicago, IL (Preferred Home Base)
Territory: Illinois and Indiana, with a primary focus on the greater Chicago metropolitan area and key regional markets across both states.
Travel: Highly field-based; four or more days per week visiting practices, with occasional overnight travel.
Lucas James Talent Partners has been retained by Phothera, a Madison Medical company within Madison Industries, to identify a high-performing Dermatology Sales Specialist to launch and grow a strategically important territory spanning Illinois and Indiana.
This is not a traditional pharmaceutical sales role built around maintaining an established territory. Phothera is seeking a commercial professional who enjoys building markets, developing long-term provider relationships, educating clinicians, and creating new prescribing behavior.
Phothera is transforming how patients access phototherapy. Its home phototherapy platform enables appropriate patients with psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and vitiligo to receive evidence-based, non-systemic narrowband UVB treatment at home rather than traveling to a dermatology office multiple times each week. Home phototherapy can offer an important option within a dermatologist's treatment approach, including for appropriate patients considering alternatives or complements to biologic therapies.
Backed by Madison Industries, Phothera combines the stability of an established organization with the visibility and opportunity of a growing commercial team.
Rather than inheriting a mature territory with established prescribing habits, you will introduce practices to Phothera's platform, develop new clinical relationships, educate care teams on patient selection and workflow, and drive sustained provider adoption across Illinois and Indiana.
Success requires clinical credibility, disciplined territory management, and the ability to earn trust at every level of a dermatology practice. The ideal candidate knows how to engage dermatologists, advanced practice providers, biologic coordinators, office managers, medical assistants, and other staff whose support makes patient access possible.
This opportunity is especially compelling for an experienced medical dermatology representative who has spent years building physician relationships and now wants to put those relationships to work in a true builder role. Product launch experience is highly valued. You will have meaningful autonomy, direct leadership visibility, strong physician interaction, and the chance to influence how a growing commercial organization enters and develops its markets.
Chicago is the preferred home base for this Illinois and Indiana territory. The role will prioritize the greater Chicago metropolitan dermatology market while developing opportunities across both states. Relevant market clusters include:
This is a field-first position. Expect to spend four or more days per week meeting with dermatology practices, planning efficient routes across Illinois and Indiana, and occasionally traveling overnight to maximize account coverage. Existing relationships in Chicago and its surrounding dermatology markets are a significant advantage, but the ability to open new doors matters just as much as the network you already have.
A medical dermatology relationship builder. You currently call on, or have recently called on, medical dermatologists and know how to earn access, establish credibility, and hold substantive clinical conversations.
A hunter. You enjoy opening doors, developing new prescribers, and creating measurable growth. You are energized by building momentum instead of relying on a mature book of business.
A territory builder. You have launched products, expanded markets, or developed underpenetrated accounts. You can independently prioritize opportunities across a large territory and execute consistently.
A clinical educator. You can discuss disease states, treatment pathways, reimbursement considerations, and complex therapies with confidence, while making information practical for physicians and office teams.
An accountable self-starter. You are comfortable with autonomy, accountability, thoughtful territory strategy, and making decisions that contribute to durable commercial growth.
In your first year, you will build meaningful relationships across the Illinois and Indiana dermatology markets, establish Phothera as a trusted clinical resource, generate new prescribing providers, expand utilization in existing practices, and execute a disciplined territory plan. You will help physicians and their teams understand where home phototherapy fits, how to identify appropriate patients, and how to navigate the practical steps of adoption.
Experienced dermatology representatives sometimes reach a point where they want greater ownership and a more visible impact. Here, you can leverage the relationships you've spent years developing while helping shape the future of a growing commercial organization. You'll join an early-stage commercial expansion, partner closely with leadership, introduce a meaningful treatment option, and see the direct impact of your work on provider adoption and patient access.
If you enjoy building markets, educating clinicians, developing lasting provider partnerships, and taking ownership of your results, we'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
