Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site Dermatology Physician Assistant role based in Pittsburgh, PA. The Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care, including conducting dermatologic histories and physical exams, diagnosing and managing common and complex skin conditions, and developing evidence-based treatment plans under physician supervision. Daily responsibilities include performing dermatologic procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions, and other minor office-based interventions as appropriate to training and credentialing. The role involves educating patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, medication use, and preventive skin care, including sun protection and skin cancer awareness. The Physician Assistant will document visits in the electronic medical record, coordinate follow-up, collaborate closely with dermatologists and clinical staff, and contribute to a positive, efficient, and respectful patient care environment.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) and active, unrestricted Pennsylvania PA license, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date.
• Formal education from an accredited Physician Assistant program; bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years dermatology experience required.
• Demonstrated clinical skills in patient assessment, diagnosis, and development of treatment plans for adult and pediatric populations.
• Competence in office-based dermatologic procedures such as skin biopsies, cryotherapy, simple excisions, and treatment of common lesions, with willingness to learn additional procedures as appropriate.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to explain conditions and treatments clearly, support shared decision-making, and build rapport with patients and families.
• Commitment to compassionate, patient-focused care, maintaining professionalism, respect, and confidentiality in all interactions.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage a steady patient schedule and maintain workflow efficiency.
