Job summary

Dermatology-of-New-Mexico,-L.l.c. is seeking an experienced part-time Medical Billing Specialist to join our dermatology practice.

You will manage the full billing cycle, review claims, verify coverage, and follow up on denials, working closely with providers and staff to ensure accurate, timely reimbursement. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of medical billing experience, familiarity with CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of medical billing experience.
• ModMed/Modernizing Medicine experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical insurance, claims processing, denials, appeals and A/R.
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage full medical billing cycle from charge entry through payment and resolution.
• Review electronic insurance claims.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits as needed.
• Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
• Review and work collections, denials, appeals and aging balances.
• Follow up with insurers on outstanding claims and reimbursements.
• Submit corrected claims and appeals when appropriate.
• Identify billing errors and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor accounts receivable and aging balances.
• Assist with patient billing questions and inquiries.
• Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
• Work with providers and staff to resolve coding/billing issues.
• Stay current with payer policies and billing regulations.
• Perform other billing and administrative duties as needed.
