Job summary

Advanced Dermatology PC in West Islip seeks a part-time Medical Assistant to travel between our locations. The role provides administrative and clinical support to licensed providers, requiring accuracy, compassion, and timely patient care.

Responsibilities include patient intake, assisting during examinations, basic lab tasks, and managing EHR data. Candidates should have a CMA/RMA or be pursuing certification; dermatology experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Medical assistant certification (CMA/RMA) preferred.
• 1+ year of experience as a medical assistant; dermatology experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records.
• EMA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; taking vital signs.
• Supports patient-care by assisting providers during examinations; preparing specimens; performing basic laboratory tests; sterilizing instruments; authorizing drug refills; calling in prescriptions to pharmacies; removing sutures; changing dressings.
• Enters patients' vital statistics and information into the Electronic Health Record (EMA).
• Updates and files medical records and insurance reports.
• Assists during medical examinations, as allowable by law.
• Performs general office duties (phones, dictation, insurance forms).
• Schedules follow-up appointments as indicated by provider.
• Completes required administrative tasks and end-of-day reporting/recordkeeping.
• Returns patient calls by end of day.
• Other duties as assigned.
