Job summary

Axiom is seeking a Derivatives Counsel in New York to support a growing portfolio of derivatives documentation, treasury clearing, and financing matters. The role emphasizes negotiating ISDAs, CSAs, repurchase agreements, and related trading documentation, with a focus on futures and equity derivatives.

You will collaborate with clients and internal teams to manage collateral, netting, and risk-mitigation provisions while advising on prime brokerage and equity financing documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in derivatives, treasury clearing, repo, and related financial-services matters.
• Experience negotiating ISDAs and CSAs.
• Experience with repurchase agreements, GMRAs/MRAs; MSFTA experience may be considered for certain opportunities.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, communication, technology, and problem-solving skills.
• JD degree and active bar admission in an applicable U.S. jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on ISDAs, CSAs, GMRAs, MRAs, MSFTAs, and related derivatives and financing documentation.
• Supporting clients on equity derivatives, futures, treasury clearing, repo, securities lending, and other financial-market transactions.
• Negotiating and managing repurchase agreement documentation, including GMRAs and MRAs.
• Advising on prime brokerage and equity financing documentation and related client, counterparty, and internal stakeholder negotiations.
• Providing guidance on netting, close-out netting, collateral, margin, and other contractual risk-mitigation provisions.
• Collaborating with legal, business, operations, risk, treasury, and compliance stakeholders in a fast-paced financial-services environment.
• Maintaining awareness of evolving derivatives, clearing, repo, and financial-markets documentation requirements.

This role is ideal for an attorney with strong experience negotiating and advising on ISDAs, CSAs, repurchase agreements, and related trading documentation.

We are especially interested in talent with experience in futures or futures agreements, equity derivatives, treasury clearing, and repo negotiations. Experience in prime brokerage or equity financing will also be highly relevant.

• Advising on prime brokerage and equity financing documentation and related client, counterparty, and internal stakeholder negotiations.
• Providing guidance on netting, close-out netting, collateral, margin, and other contractual risk-mitigation provisions.
• Collaborating with legal, business, operations, risk, treasury, and compliance stakeholders in a fast-paced financial-services environment.
• Maintaining awareness of evolving derivatives, clearing, repo, and financial-markets documentation requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting derivatives, treasury clearing, repo, securities financing, prime brokerage, equity financing, or related financial-services matters.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating ISDAs and CSAs.
• Experience with repurchase agreements, including GMRAs and/or MRAs; MSFTA experience may be considered for certain opportunities.
• Experience with futures or futures agreement documentation is strongly preferred and will be prioritized.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, technology, and problem-solving skills.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar admission in an applicable U.S. jurisdiction.

Compensation

The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
