Qualifications

• Be a citizen of the United States.

• Not have been convicted of a crime for which the person could have been imprisoned in a federal or state penitentiary.
• Be of good moral character, as determined through a background investigation.
• Be examined by a licensed physician to determine fitness for duty.
• Successfully complete an oral examination by an interview panel and the Sheriff.
• Possess or be eligible for a Virginia driver’s license.
