Job summary

The Hanover County Sheriff's Office is seeking candidates for Deputy Sheriff positions. This sworn role provides law enforcement services and protection for the Hanover County community, with opportunities to progress through six levels and to work under the supervision of a Lieutenant.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience handling stressful/dangerous situations preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned area and enforce traffic and criminal laws.
• Respond to radio calls for service.
• Serve warrants and make arrests.
• Handle domestic disturbances and citizen complaints.
• Direct traffic as necessary.
• Investigate automobile accidents and assist disabled motorists.
• Conduct criminal investigations.
• Testify in court.
