Job summary

Monterey County Sheriff's Office seeks Deputies to work in the Correction Operations Bureau, focused on security, custody and supervision of inmates. Roles may start as Deputy Sheriff-Recruit with potential promotion after graduating the CA P.O.S.T. Academy.

Applicants must meet state requirements, possess a Class C driver’s license, and may be eligible for waivers based on prior POS T certifications or exams. This is a fulltime on-site position in Salinas, CA.

Qualifications

• Must meet California Government Codes 1029 and 1031 requirements.
• Possess and maintain a Class C Driver’s License issued by the DMV.
• Computer and typing skills highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and control behavior of persons confined to the Sheriff's Corrections Operation Bureau facilities.
• Conduct strip, skin and pat down searches and determine contraband presence.
• Conduct initial investigations of inmate complaints, accidents or crimes within the facility.
