Gila County Community College seeks a Probation Officer Supervisor to lead the Juvenile and Adult Divisions within the Probation Department. The role focuses on administration, policy development, and cross-agency coordination to support community safety.
The position includes supervising staff, scheduling, performance reviews, hiring recommendations, budget oversight, and grant compliance. A strong background in probation services, leadership, and training is required, along with CPR/First Aid
The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety of the Gila County community through the utilization of evidence based practices in the management and support of officers responsible for administering case supervision.
This position performs administration duties in planning, developing, organizing, directing and coordinating the activities of both Juvenile and Adult Divisions of the Probation Department. This position is responsible for providing leadership in the administration of the department and in the development and evaluation of policies and procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Regularly assigns work to other employees and supervises related activities.
Makes final decisions on scheduling work hours of employees, evaluating employee performance, granting time off and employee coaching.
Provides recommendations on hiring new employees, handling employee grievances, training, employee promotions, employee salary increases, employee disciplinary actions and discharging employees.

This position reviews, edits and provides recommendations on department level budget, project budget and State budget.
Provides project resource allocation based on pre-approved resources involving organizational planning projects, organizational development projects, quality assurance, process improvement projects, employee training and development projects. Provides project research support on capital development projects.
This position trains colleagues, explains County procedures or processes, responds to public inquiries, participates in meetings, gives presentations, negotiates or persuades and conducts meetings.
This position creates or edits documents, internal memos, emails, reports and court documents.
Interacts extensively with employees, customers, the general public, vendors, regulatory bodies, and other groups and/or individuals and Institutions over the telephone, by email, and/or in person.

Bachelor’s Degree with a preference in the behavioral sciences or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Five (5) years experience working as a Probation Officer with some lead/supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must successfully pass a psychological, medical evaluation and other training requirements. Must have an unrestricted Driver’s License and carry required automobile insurance.
AOC Probation Officer's Academy, AOC Defensive Tactics Academy.
Must have an unrestricted Driver’s License and carry required automobile insurance.
Must maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.

Incumbents in this position are generally exposed to occasional verbal abuse by customers or citizens. Incumbents may become exposed to occasional physical danger, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, fire hazards, extreme temperature, wetness and humidity.
Incumbents in this position are required to constantly follow written safety procedures and manuals relevant to the division or department. May be required to use safety equipment and compliance devices.
Potential errors can have legal ramifications, loss of funding, loss of organizations’ credibility.
Incumbents in this position are required to be U.S. citizens with zero felony convictions.
Incumbents are required to maintain a level of physical fitness to meet Department standards.
Prior to employment, must successfully complete a background check as well as medical, psychological, written and oral examinations prior to being appointed.
Incumbents in this position must have an unrestricted Driver’s License upon appointment and must be a US citizen.
Must have Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET) accreditation.
Must undergo a search of the Arizona Department of Child Safety Central Registry and successfully complete with no substantiated findings of disqualifying acts and/or a Central Registry for Employment Exception.
