Job summary

OKX is seeking a commercially savvy Deputy General Counsel to lead strategic partnerships and institutions. You will support global institutional and trading businesses, and our peer-to-peer platform, shaping strategy in a fast-moving crypto environment.

You will draft and negotiate key commercial agreements, provide cross-border regulatory guidance, and collaborate with product, BD, and engineering to align with compliance. Hybrid NYC office preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a law degree and be eligible to practice as an advocate.
• Senior lawyer with 10+ years experience at a law firm, digital assets firm or top-tier financial institution.
• Proven track record in strategic partnerships, cooperation and incentive agreements.

About the Opportunity

The Global Legal team provides legal advice and guidance to OKX and its affiliated entities across all coverage areas and geographic locations, and supports business growth by working with all teams within the company to help them achieve their goals. Our team has attorneys around the world, and handles legal matters in literally hundreds of countries across the globe.

The Strategic Partnerships and Institutions legal team is looking to add a commercially savvy senior lawyer as Deputy General Counsel to our practice group with a primary focus on covering strategic partnerships. You will play a key role in our Global Legal team, actively supporting our global institutional and trading businesses, as well as our Peer-to-Peer (P2P) platform. OKX's strategic partnerships business is one of the fastest-growing segments of our global platform, forging commercial partnerships that align with OKX strategic priorities. As Deputy General Counsel, Strategic Partnerships and Institutions, you will serve as legal advisor for one of OKX’s most strategically important business lines: our strategic partnership ecosystem. This is not a reactive, gatekeeping role. We are looking for a commercially-minded lawyer who leans in, shapes strategy, takes ownership, and thrives in a fast-moving environment where legal frameworks are still taking shape alongside the industry itself.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Serve as an attorney on all strategic partnerships and trading arrangements, including strategic alliances, partnership agreements, cooperation agreements, incentive agreements, exchange integrations, staking, co-investments, and alliances.
• Responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing high-stakes commercial agreements, joint ventures, and technology alliances to help scale business growth safely.
• Advise on complex cross-border transactions, crypto product structuring, and multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance.
• Act as a key legal advisor within the global strategic partnership legal team, focusing on our strategic partnerships, trading, and P2P platforms, and ensuring compliance and robust legal support across these key business areas;
• Translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, commercially actionable guidance for product, engineering, and executive teams.
• Collaborate closely with the product development and business development teams to ensure that new products, services, and business initiatives align with regulatory requirements and advance the company’s strategic goals; and
• Address any additional matters as advised by the legal team leaders, providing flexibility to respond to new challenges and opportunities within the legal landscape.

What We Look For In You:

• Must hold a law degree and be eligible to practice as an advocate;
• Senior lawyer with at least 10+ years experience working at a law firm, digital assets firm or a top tier financial institution;
• Proven track record at a top-tier law firm or in-house role at a top financial institution, with experience in the digital assets sector;
• Meaningful, deal-level exposure to strategic partnerships including cooperation agreements and incentive agreements. Must have flexibility to work on various commercial and transactional deals;
• Experience drafting playbooks and fallbacks guide is a plus;
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural, and growth-oriented environment;
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, works well under pressure and able to cope with tight deadlines;
• Excellent drafting and communication skills;
• Strong skills in building trust and providing effective legal advice to business teams, with the capability to navigate rapidly evolving legal landscapes;
• A highly collaborative team member who is comfortable within a high-functioning multicultural legal department.

• The salary range for this position is $200,355 - $300,533
• The salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
