Job summary

The State of Iowa - Executive Branch seeks a Deputy Director of the Transportation Development Division (TDD) to lead project development and deliver the Iowa Transportation Improvement Program.

The role oversees multiple bureaus, collaborates with six DOT districts, and champions the Digital Delivery program, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery of multi-billion-dollar highway and bridge projects.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; seven years of full-time management-level work in finance, human resources, engineering, law, social work, regulation, data processing, or program research/evaluation
• Eleven years of full-time management-level work experience in the same broad fields
• Combination of education and experience per the listed parts including PMP or related credentials equivalent to experience

Responsibilities

• Participating as a principal leader among the Division’s Senior Leadership Team and representing the Division Director when needed
• Provide direct leadership, oversight, and direction for bureaus including Location and Environment, Design, Bridges and Structures, Project Management, Right of Way, and Contracts and Specifications
• Collaborate with staff across six Districts and other DOT divisions to improve project development processes and ensure quality projects are delivered on time and within budget
• Serve as the Department’s champion for the Digital Delivery program and related initiatives

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, public administration, or related field
