The City of New York's Mayor’s Office is seeking a Deputy Communications Director for the Office of Mass Engagement to lead messaging and outreach across communities. You will craft strategies for major engagements and coordinate with City Hall offices to align with administration priorities.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in communications or related fields, with a proven ability to translate policy into accessible narratives and manage a proactive communications calendar.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in communications, public affairs, organizing, journalism, campaigns, or related fields.

Responsabilités

• Develop messaging and communications strategies for major community engagements such as parades, celebrations, block parties, and town halls.
• Coordinate messaging with City Hall offices and agencies to reflect administration priorities.
• Create narratives and opportunities to tell stories about the administration's work through organizing, direct engagement with New Yorkers, and demystifying government.
• Maintain a proactive communications calendar for the Office of Mass Engagement and related offices, including policy rollouts and events.
• Draft remarks, talking points, press releases, video scripts, op-eds, and social media copy.
• Collaborate with Mayor’s Press Office to generate proactive coverage and manage stories end-to-end.
• Work with the digital team to produce compelling content across platforms.
