Arcadis is seeking a Deputy Design Manager in New York to support the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project, a landmark infrastructure initiative delivering a new two-track rail tunnel under the Hudson River and rehabilitating the North River Tunnel. The role involves overseeing the design team, coordinating with architects and engineers, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.

You will review drawings, lead design reviews, and contribute to value engineering and innovative design solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent.
• 12+ years of design management experience in large tunneling/underground projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bentley software suites.

Responsibilities

• Assist in oversight of the design team and coordinating design activities for the project in the field of heavy commuter rail systems.
• Ensure that design deliverables meet project requirements, client expectations, and relevant standards.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and stakeholders to integrate design elements and address technical challenges.
• Review design drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Support value engineering efforts, design optimization, and innovation in design solutions.

Role Description

Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Deputy Design Manager to support one of the most iconic and consequential infrastructure initiatives in the United States – the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP).

We are working as the Delivery Partner with team members selected by the Gateway Development Commission to deliver this transformative project. The HTP is a critical component of the broader Gateway Program – one of the most ambitious and impactful transportation initiatives in the nation – and is designed to strengthen mobility, enhance resiliency, and ensure the long-term reliability of the Northeast Corridor. The project encompasses the construction of a new, two‑track rail tunnel beneath the Hudson River, along with the full rehabilitation of the existing 113‑year‑old North River Tunnel. This vital infrastructure supports more than 200,000 daily passengers via Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT and serves as a backbone for economic activity and connectivity between New York and New Jersey.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
