Job summary

Brown and Caldwell seeks a Deputy Delivery Manager to support a Senior Owner's Advisor in planning, execution, and completion of collaborative delivery projects. You will act as a liaison between the project owner and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with vision, goals, budget, schedule, and quality.

The role focuses on selecting delivery methods, market outreach, RFQ/RFP development, contract reviews, and risk mitigation, with mentorship and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Typically, a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience with medium, straightforward projects and collaborative delivery methods.
  • Experience in assisting contract management and negotiation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Develop and customize RFQ and RFP documents for procurement activities.
  • Support owners/clients in reference checks during RFQ/RFP reviews and assist with contract negotiations.
  • Support strategic implementation plans for new projects and programs.
  • Support owners/clients in design-builder contract compliance and services during construction.
  • Contribute to risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Uphold a client-focused approach for small projects with limited supervision.
  • Support project planning and scheduling to ensure timely delivery.
  • Be flexible to take on additional assignments as needed.

Job description

The Deputy Delivery Manager role will support a Senior Owner's Advisor in the successful planning, execution, and completion of collaborative delivery projects by acting as a liaison between the project owner and various stakeholders. This role is client focused and will assist in ensuring that the project aligns with the owner's vision, goals, and objectives while adhering to budget, schedule, and quality standards. The role will help Owners select project delivery methods, attend market sounding and outreach, develop Request for Qualifications and Proposals, review responses, assist legal teams with contract documents and negotiations, review pricing proposals and oversee construction contracts performing risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies through start-up and commissioning.

Work Arrangement

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with three days per week onsite in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Develop and customize RFQ and RFP documents for procurement activities using various collaborative delivery methods.
  • Support owners/clients in performing reference checks during RFQ and RFP submittal reviews. Assist with managing and negotiation of contracts effectively while adhering to organizational norms.
  • Support strategic implementation plans for new projects and programs.
  • Support owners/clients in design-builder contract compliance and services during construction.
  • Contribute to risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Uphold a client-focused approach to handle small projects with limited supervision.
  • Support project planning and scheduling, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
Mentorship
  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
Skills and Competencies
  • Foundational understanding of project/program management techniques.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Understand contract management and negotiations.
  • Ability to develop strategic implementation plans and manage procurement documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and the ability to multi-task.
Experience
  • Typically, a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Prior experience managing medium, straightforward projects.
  • Experience as part of a team implementing collaborative delivery methods and best practices.
  • Experience in assisting contract management and negotiation.
Preferred Experience
  • 10 years of experience supporting delivery of complex capital infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in water/wastewater infrastructure project planning, procurement and/or delivery
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • DBIA or Assoc. DBIA certification
Education
  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business Management, or related field or equivalent experience is required.
Salary Range

Location C: $104,000 - $140,000
