Job summary

The San Joaquin County Office of The County Counsel is recruiting to fill one Deputy County Counsel vacancy and to establish an eligible list to fill future openings. The ideal candidates will have civil litigation and/or transactional experience, with experience advising public agencies desirable.

A strong understanding of government operations is beneficial and will help in complex negotiations and advisory roles across departments. This Civil Service position is unrepresented.

Introduction

The San Joaquin County Office of The County Counsel is recruiting to fill one current Deputy County Counsel vacancy and to establish an eligible list which may be used to fill future vacancies. The ideal candidates will have civil litigation and/or transactional experience, with experience advising public agencies desirable.

This Civil Service position is unrepresented. Final appointment will be conditional upon passing a Pre-employment background and DOJ Live Scan.

Annual Salary Information (**includes 10% Confidential Base Pay Supplement):

Deputy County Counsel II: $128,019-$155,607
Deputy County Counsel III: $160,321-$194,872
Deputy County Counsel IV: $185,561-$225,551

New Hire Incentives

• Vacation Accrual Rate: San Joaquin County vacation accrual rate consistent with the candidate's total years of public service.
• Sick Leave: Candidates leaving other employment may receive credit for actual non-reimbursable sick leave hours (up to 160 hours) from their last agency. Hours shall be subject to San Joaquin County's minimum sick leave cash out provisions.
• Moving Expenses: Documented costs to a maximum of $2,000.
