Appraisal (Weight 100%): of training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the work based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and rating of application.
Should an oral exam be necessary, the oral exam will be weighted 100%.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

Applicants must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Felony CONVICTIONS will be disqualifying. Misdemeanor CONVICTIONS may be disqualifying. Prior to appointment, candidates will be subject to a thorough background check.
Applicants must be willing to deal with death, dead bodies, at times decomposed remains; trauma involved with notification of next of kin; traveling rough terrain to reach death scene; adverse weather conditions; and, to accept call back and stand‑by assignments, and work shifts on a 24‑hour basis, seven days a week as needed.

This examination will establish a 12‑month eligible list from which appointments will be made at the Sheriff’s Department.
