Midland County is seeking a Basic Peace Officer to protect the Courthouse, officials, employees and patrons. The role involves security screening, patrols of the Justice of the Peace Courthouse, and assisting federal, state and local law enforcement in emergencies.
Responsibilities include conducting searches for weapons, maintaining court security, testifying in court, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Protects the Courthouse, officials, employees, and patrons; enforces laws; and performs emergency response functions in county buildings.
Basic Peace Officer with experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Basic Peace Officer from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).KNOWLEDGE OF
Penal Code; investigation; x-ray screening and metal detection; security protocols and operations.
Safely operate vehicles, firearms, and specialized security equipment; physically restrain individuals; read and write reports, letters, and memos; operate a computer; apply criminal investigative techniques; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement agencies, the elected officials', Office heads, other Official employees, and the general public; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; maintain accurate records; and maintain appropriate necessary certifications, Texas driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, and good driving record.
