Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Deputy City Marshal II to join the Municipal Court Marshal’s division. This position is a sworn law enforcement role commissioned by TCOLE and requires a Basic Peace Officer’s license.

Primary duties include securing courtrooms, serving warrants, and transporting prisoners, with Lake Worth patrols and court bailiff duties. Fort Worth offers a competitive pay range with a $2,000 sign-on incentive and a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, paid

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED
• Two (2) years of experience in a law enforcement related field, or security of governmental buildings/structures, or applicable active duty military police experience
• Possession of a valid Texas driver's license
• Possession of a valid TCOLE Basic Peace Officer's license

Responsibilities

• Operates security screening checkpoints; searches and inspects persons and their property entering secure facilities for prohibited weapons, explosives, and other contraband
• Serves as court bailiff in assigned courts and performs related duties; ensures the safety and security of the courtroom, jury, and trial participants at all times
• Responds to emergencies and incidents in the Municipal Courts, City Hall Complex, and in/around Lake Worth
• Transports prisoners to and from surrounding jurisdictions; ensures proper restraint of prisoners during transportation
• Conducts traffic stops and investigations, enforces various traffic laws and water or boating laws, and issues citations as required
• Detains, questions, and investigates persons suspected of violating specific court orders
• Serves warrants, arrests persons named therein, and testifies in court when required
• Completes and maintains accurate reports, inventories, and documents
• Assists the Fort Worth Police Department with the transportation of persons with Fort Worth Class “C” warrants

Job description

Pay Range:

$36.54/hr.

• $2,000 Sign-On Incentive: 50% paid on the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after 6 months of employment.

A Deputy City Marshal II job is available with the City of Fort Worth Municipal Court Marshal’s division. The Deputy City Marshal II is a law enforcement officer position commissioned by TCOLE. All candidates for this position must have a Basic TCOLE Peace Officer’s License. The primary responsibility of the Marshal’s Division is to bring wanted parties before the Court, but it is also tasked with providing bailiffs to the Court and patrolling Lake Worth.

The Fort Worth Marshal’s Division is a law enforcement agency that works alongside the Fort Worth Police Department to arrest wanted parties, enforce traffic laws, and respond to radio calls for service as needed.

The Marshals Division Is Made Up Of Four Sections

Building Security – This section is responsible for maintaining the physical security of the Fort Worth City Hall, the Public Safety Building, and other facilities and parking areas. Deputy Marshals assigned to this section also work as bailiffs. As a Baliff, Deputy Marshals are responsible for maintaining the decorum of the Court and the safety of staff members and the public.

Warrant Section – This section brings wanted parties before the Court. Deputy Marshals assigned to this section work with the Fort Worth Police Department to arrest wanted parties, enforce traffic laws, and respond to radio calls for service as needed.

Lake Patrol – This section enforces maritime laws at Lake Worth and assists the Fort Worth Police Department by responding to calls for service. The primary goal of the Lake Patrol is to ensure a safe environment for the public on the lake and in the surrounding parks. The Lake Patrol is also responsible for search and rescue efforts and emergency response on the lake and surrounding waterways.

Bike Patrol – This section patrols the downtown city campus, including City Hall, the Public Safety Building, and the associated area. The Bike Patrol also works with the Fort Worth Police Department to maintain the peace in downtown Fort Worth.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED
• Two (2) years of experience in a law enforcement related field, or security of governmental buildings/structures, or applicable active duty military police experience
• Possession of a valid Texas driver's license
• Possession of a valid TCOLE Basic Peace Officer's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Intermediate Texas Peace Officer's License or higher
• Completed minimum TCOLE training hours for the training cycle and continuing education
• Marine Safety Enforcement Officer Certification
• Firearms proficiencies in pistol, shotgun, and rifle platforms
• Bilingual

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, swimming, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
