You will work with the City Attorney to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal counsel across municipal matters, including litigation, land use, and open government issues, with opportunities to build an accessible and effective office.

The role emphasizes collaboration with City departments, clear guidance to staff and elected officials, and the chance to contribute to Napa’s growth and public service.

Qualifications

• Experience advising in a public agency or government setting.
• Ability to interpret laws, ordinances, and regulations for diverse audiences.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for elected officials and staff.

Responsabilités

• Provide timely, practical legal advice on municipal operations.
• Research and analyze legal issues; prepare opinions on open meetings, conflicts of interest, and public records.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, ordinances, and policies.
• Represent the City in litigation and administrative proceedings as needed.
• Evaluate risk and advise on complex public policy issues.
