Job summary

Interwest Consulting Group is seeking a senior-building leader to supervise inspectors and permit staff in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role includes acting as Deputy Building Official, interpreting codes, and ensuring compliance across jurisdictions.

You will drive client relations, identify opportunities for service expansion, and oversee inspections, plan reviews, and permitting data. A strong background in building codes and municipal processes is essential for success in this leadership

Qualifications

• 5+ years of municipal building inspections, code enforcement, or permit center operations.
• ICC Combination Residential and/or Commercial Building Inspector certifications.
• CASp certification preferred; California licenses desirable.
• Must obtain ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to inspectors and permit technicians.
• Serve as Deputy Building Official; interpret codes and resolve disputes.
• Maintain strong client relationships with municipal clients and contractors.
• Support business development to expand services in the region.
• Perform field inspections and assist in-house plan reviews as needed.
• Coordinate plan reviews and maintain accurate permitting records.
• Operate with adaptability and manage multiple priorities.
