The Natural Resources Law Section is seeking a Deputy Attorney General Supervisor to lead a high-caliber team of attorneys and paralegals representing California's environmental agencies. In this role, the Deputy Attorney General Supervisor balances administrative oversight with hands‑on litigation leadership to deliver high‑level strategy and advocacy.
The Natural Resources Law Section represents most state agencies responsible for natural resources protection and pollution control, including the California Air Resources Board, CAL FIRE, Department of Fish and Wildlife, State Water Resources Control Board, Department of Toxic Substances Control, CalRecycle, and the Department of Food and Agriculture. Our attorneys handle complex and impactful civil litigation in state and federal courts at all stages from pre‑litigation advice and investigation through trial and appeal.
In this critical role, you will supervise, mentor, and train a team of attorneys and paralegals, driving strategy on cases that shape California's environmental future. You will provide strategic litigation guidance on high‑stakes matters involving air pollution, wildfire cost recovery, endangered species, water rights, water quality, hazardous substances, and CEQA compliance. Additionally, you will be expected to be able to handle the most difficult and complex legal work related to administrative hearings, jury trials, bench trials, writs, and appeals.
We seek candidates who are ready to lead an elite team of attorneys within our Natural Resources Law Section.
