Job summary

Delaware Department of Justice is seeking a Deputy Attorney General in the Family Division, Child Support Unit, to represent the Division in establishing paternity, enforcing support orders, and collecting arrears. This role involves high-volume litigation, filings, and appellate work with statewide travel.

The ideal candidate will work independently, meet deadlines, and possess strong legal reasoning, with Delaware Bar eligibility or limited admission under Rule 55.

Qualifications

• The most qualified candidates have some prior criminal and general counsel experience.
• Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.
• Ability to learn relevant laws, rules of evidence, and court rules; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Division of Child Support Services in Family Court, daily litigation and appellate work.
• Prepare legal filings, briefs, and conduct legal research; negotiate settlements.
• Collaborate with agency staff to achieve the Division's mission and manage complex family law matters.
