Job summary

LHH is seeking a Deputy Attorney General – Tribal Government for the San Diego area. This senior in-house role partners with the Attorney General and Tribal Council on sovereignty, governance, cultural resource protection, employment, land use, and more.

You will help reduce outside counsel reliance and lead meaningful, community-centered legal work. The position offers a salary range of $185,000–$198,000 plus a performance bonus and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Senior in-house role partnering with the Attorney General and Tribal Council on sovereignty, governance, cultural resource protection, employment, land use, and more.
• Experience working with tribal governments and navigating sovereign prerogatives.

Responsibilities

• Shape legal strategy from within the tribal government alongside senior leaders.
• Help reduce outside counsel reliance and manage complex legal matters.
• Lead community-centered legal work addressing sovereignty, land use, and governance.
