Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Depot Level Avionics Technician to inspect, test, adjust and repair avionics equipment on CBP aircraft, including NVG goggles.

You will troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems, interpret manuals, and use oscilloscopes and multimeters to perform troubleshooting and checks. Occasional travel to support customer missions is required. A high school diploma, five years of avionics experience, and CBP clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of avionics/electrical related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
• Must have a valid driverb4s license.
• Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and modify avionics, electrical and instrumentation systems from aircraft.
• Solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar technical documents/drawings.
• Use test equipment such as multi-trace oscilloscopes, frequency counters, multi-meters to perform troubleshooting and operational checks.
• Perform repair, inspection, and operational checks of avionics system components and NVG goggles.
• Repair or replace components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, and handbooks.
• Perform calibration, repair and replacement of system components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
• Make entries in CBP maintenance and logistics database.
• Travel in support of customers’ mission as required.

Job description

The Depot Level Avionics Technician inspects, tests, adjusts, or repairs avionics equipment, such as communications, navigation, and instrument systems assigned CBP aircraft as well as NVG goggles.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and modify avionics, electrical and instrumentation systems from aircraft.
• Solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar technical documents and/or drawings.
• Use intricate test equipment such as, multi-trace oscilloscopes, frequency counters, multi-meters, and other avionics test equipment to perform troubleshooting and operational checks.
• Perform repair, inspection, and operational check of communications, navigation and other avionics system components as well as NVG goggles.
• Repair and/or replace components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
• Perform calibration, repair and replacement of system components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
• Make entries in Custom Border Protection maintenance and logistics database.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Periodically required to travel in support of customers’ mission.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note: US Citizenship required to obtain the clearance.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five (5) years of avionics/electrical related experience required.
• Possess a high degree of knowledge and expertise in aircraft electrical/avionics systems.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/ technical manuals and publications, and special tools and test equipment.
• Must be familiar with the operational capabilities and limitations of electrical / avionics systems.
• Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language and follow verbal and written instruction.
• Must have basic computer data entry skills required for use of Custom Border Protection maintenance and logistics database.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
• Must have close vision to include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Working conditions are a standard shop type environment.
• May be required to work in areas where noise hazards are prevalent.
• Exposure to materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets.
• May be exposed to electrical shock hazard.
• Work location is depot level maintenance shops.

Compensation Details:

Hourly Rate: $50.26
