Job description

About Lead Bank

Lead is a banking infrastructure platform trusted by the most innovative companies to power complex financial products. We enable fintechs to offer compliant, programmable services like payments, lending, and digital assets at scale. Banking has moved beyond traditional institutions and is now embedded directly into everyday experiences, meaning companies need modern infrastructure that is safe, secure, and operationally sound.

Today, Lead is one of the only API-first, developer-focused partner banks with the financial, regulatory, and legal expertise required to help fintechs succeed. We operate offices in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, and New York City, and an FDIC-insured bank in Kansas City.

Compliance Team at Lead

The Compliance team helps Lead and its partners innovate responsibly, from onboarding and due diligence through full lifecycle oversight and remediation. They work closely with the Legal, Risk, and Audit teams to ensure partner programs operate in alignment with regulatory requirements and meet Lead’s standards for governance and accountability. At Lead, Compliance isn't a team that says "no." It's a team that figures out how to safely say "yes.” Rather than simply identifying roadblocks, this collaborative, solutions-oriented team focuses on finding practical paths forward. They value self-starters with sound judgment and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Role Description:

Lead is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated compliance professional to join our Compliance Team. • Maintain proficient knowledge of the elements related to the Bank’s Compliance Management System to enhance Lead’s CMS and those of the fintech partners included but not limited to policies and procedures, escalation and reporting, complaint handling and trend analysis, exam and audit management.
  • Review business unit and Fintech partner policies, procedures, and marketing materials for adherence to laws and regulations and recommend changes based on risks identified or changes in laws and regulations.
  • Monitor compliance related Partner controls and key risk indicators to identify weaknesses, research issues, and make recommendations for remediation where required.
  • Assist the business unit/Fintech partner in the development of action plans and corrective action associated with monitoring/review findings, as necessary.
  • Develop effective working relationships with department employees, other business units, and Fintech partners.
  • Supportive resource to the business units for questions related to consumer protection laws and regulations in relation to payments including but not limited to debit/prepaid card, checks, ACH, wires and instant payments.
  • Demonstrate the values of Lead Bank and set a personal example for team members to follow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ banking experience
  • Have knowledge and experience with the elements of Compliance Management Systems (CMS), included but not limited to policies and procedures, escalation and reporting, complaint handling and trend analysis, exam and audit management.
  • Have an understanding of applicable federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including, but not limited to UDAAP, FTC Guidelines, Reg E, Reg CC, Nacha Rules, Visa/Mastercard Rules, and other federal consumer protection legislation and regulations
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both writing and verbal
