Job summary

Software Placement Group in Boston seeks an Electrical Department Head to lead the electrical team on large data center projects. You will sign as engineer of record, set technical direction, and mentor a growing group of engineers and designers.

Hybrid role with hands-on design for hyperscale facilities, coordinating with owners and multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex power systems up to 35 kV.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of electrical design experience with substantial data center work
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
• Experience designing redundant power systems for tiered facilities
• Medium voltage distribution up to 35 kV and protective relaying experience
• Experience leading engineering teams
• Working knowledge of Revit and BIM
• Engineering degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

Location: Boston, MA | Schedule: Full-time, hybrid (up to two days remote per week)

Overview

An established MEP/FP engineering firm with decades of experience designing mission critical facilities is seeking an Electrical Department Head for its Boston office. The firm works with hyperscale operators, developers, and federal agencies on data center projects supporting AI and cloud deployments, ranging from fit-ups of existing data halls to campuses exceeding 30 MW with dedicated substations. This role leads the electrical department while remaining hands-on with the office's largest and most technically complex projects, setting technical direction, serving as the senior electrical point of contact for data center clients, and signing as engineer of record. What you'll do
