Texas Southern University’s School of Public Affairs invites applications for the Department Chair of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy. The 12-month appointment includes a 75% graduate teaching load and leadership over accreditation, curriculum, and research initiatives within a PAB-accredited program.

The Chair will guide faculty, manage budgets, oversee program assessments, and foster external funding while promoting outreach to support TSU’s urban programming mission and community

Formación

• Earned doctorate in Urban Planning, Environmental Policy, or a related field.
• Eligible for tenure-track appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
• Meets SACSCOC faculty credentialing requirements.
• Ability to maintain security of critical infrastructure.

Responsabilidades

• Teach graduate level courses at master’s and doctoral levels.
• Lead administration and curricular development for the department.
• Promote outreach and engagement aligned with TSU’s urban programming mission.
• Coordinate faculty search/appointment processes and supervise staff.
• Oversee departmental budget, planning and program assessment activities.
• Support accreditation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Foster alumni relations and external fundraising with advisory boards.
• Promote civil, collegial environment and student success.
