Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is seeking an Embedded Flight Software Engineer 3 to hands‑on develop real‑time embedded flight control software. You will engage with product owners and architects in an agile team, mentoring peers and guiding subsystem design to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a STEM field and 4+ years' experience with C/C++, Linux, and OO design, plus familiarity with AI‑assisted tooling and modern software practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university.
• Experience with C and C++ programming with exposure to embedded programming and/or robotics.
• Experience with Object Oriented Design.
• Experience with Linux.
• Embraces lean‑agile development and shared design philosophy.
• Understanding of Software Configuration Management practices and tools such as git.
• Embraces using AI‑Assisted tooling in all aspects of development.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent ability to communicate technical content to collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Deliver operational and enabling capabilities designed to meet real‑time requirements for an embedded flight control system.
• Design, develop and document software products using modern software principles and provide innovative solutions.
• Develop across the full software lifecycle: refine requirements, design subsystems, implement code, build tests.
• Work in an agile environment with standards and tooling for Flight Software lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA, and automation teams on cross‑functional activities.
• Ensure engineering best practices are used to develop top‑notch solutions.
• Mentor less‑experienced engineers to grow their knowledge and efficiency.
• Lead major software subsystem design and architecture discussions with minimal oversight.
