Job summary

AdventHealth Denver is hiring a Registered Nurse for a day shift in a full-time capacity. You will apply nursing knowledge to diagnose, treat, and monitor unit patients, ensuring safety and compassionate care. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team is essential to deliver high-quality outcomes.

You will complete assessments, set realistic care goals, and participate in ongoing education and quality improvement, while adhering to infection prevention and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • New RN graduate or <1 year experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a matrix-management environment
  • Ability to use MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles is a plus

Job Description:

Applies knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population.Adheres to all pertinent regulatory standards, follows strict infection prevention precautions, and ensures medication safety. Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team. Abides by nationally recognized standards and code of ethics, participating in practice changes, process improvement initiatives, and completion of all required education. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department, exhibiting a desire to learn, teach, mentor, and advance nursing skills. Completes timely assessments including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors, such as signs of abuse or neglect. Makes appropriate decisions and implements interventions based on nursing diagnoses according to patients' actual or potential health conditions or needs. Sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care. Prioritizes and completes follow-up assessments, evaluating and modifying plans of care as needed. Assesses and interprets diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including lab results, non-invasive monitoring data, and interdisciplinary team notes. Utilizes appropriate techniques, verbiage, and resources in all interactions with patients to their level of understanding. Promotes an exceptional patient experience through effective communication with patients, families, and visitors, including hourly rounding.Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to learn and apply computer-related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
  • Ability to work as a team player within a unit
  • Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills
  • EKG competency testing (based on facility/unit requirement)
  • BLS from American Heart Association obtained within 6 months of hire
  • New RN graduate or Registered Nurse with < 1-year experience
  • Previous work as a CNA, Student Nurse Tech, Triage Tech, or EMT in an acute care setting is preferred but not [Required]
  • Volunteer experience in an acute care setting is [Preferred]
  • Current BLS from American Heart Association [Preferred]
  • Working knowledge of principles of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Ability to integrate the organizational educational needs into an LMS using industry and evidence-based best practices
  • Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, OneNote, Snagit, and Visio
  • Demonstrated project management, collaboration, and customer relation skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
  • Ability to use tools provided to generate custom reports based on specified business requirements
  • Solid leadership skills, initiative, and self-direction
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and education administration processes [Preferred]
  • Basic understanding of HTML and SharePoint [Preferred]
  • Familiarity with networking, IT, and computer hardware terminology [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of Project Management practices and software (MS Project, or other PM tools) [Preferred]
Education:
  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
