Job summary

Nebraska Department of Correctional Services seeks a licensed dentist for the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution. You will perform exams, diagnose conditions, and provide restorative and surgical dental care to inmates.

Salary is based on experience with an additional $3/hour facility differential. Applicants must pass security checks and a pre-employment medical exam; training is provided after hire.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Degree in Dentistry, plus licensed to practice Dentistry in Nebraska.
  • Other: Must submit to background security check, pre-employment medical exam, and drug test. Completion of the Staff Training Academy program is required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic exams of inmate teeth, gingiva and oral mucosa for infections and diseases, and prepare charts.
  • Diagnose diseases and lesions, take X-rays and prepare study models as necessary.
  • Provide restorative dentistry.
  • Conduct oral surgery through anesthesia and tooth extractions.
  • Administer drugs orally, topically, by injection and/or prescription.

Job Description:

Salary based upon experience, plus an additional $3.00/hour facility differential for hours worked.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating nine institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,800 inmates. The department’s focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Duties:

Requirements/ Qualifications
