Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Rolla, Missouri seeks a Dentist to provide compassionate, comprehensive dental care to veterans as part of the nation’s Veteran health system.

Major duties include making oral and radiographic examinations, interpreting imaging, reviewing medical history, diagnosing conditions, and developing multi-step treatment plans. The dentist also administers local anesthesia and performs restorative, prosthetic, implant, periodontal and surgical procedures within

• Review of medical history and apply knowledge to patient management

• Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions

• Perform treatment planning - including multi-step - complex plans with input from specialists as needed
• 5
• Administer local anesthesia
• 6
• Manage or perform routine and complex restoration of teeth
• 7
• Manage or perform routine extractions and other surgical procedures within the scope of a general dentist
• 8
• Manage or perform prosthetic dentistry - procedures within the scope of a general dentist
• 9
• Manage or perform routine dental implant restorations - within the scope of a general dentist
• 10
• Manage or perform routine periodontal procedures - within the scope of a general dentist
• 11
• Dentists also serve as on-call dentist for the hospital and rotate a week at a time in rotation with other staff dentists
• 12
• Basic functional experience in the use of a computer - to include electronic dental charting and record-keeping - e-mailing - and word processing.
