Job description

Associate Dentist / Managing Clinical Director

Dentists play a vital role in the dental industry, providing comprehensive oral healthcare services to patients of all ages. They are responsible for diagnosing and treating various dental conditions, such as tooth decay, gum disease, and oral infections. Dentists work with a range of tools and techniques to perform procedures like dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, and the placement of crowns, bridges, and dental implants. They also focus on preventive care, educating patients about proper oral hygiene and offering guidance on maintaining a healthy diet to promote oral health. Dentists may work in private practices, clinics, hospitals, or educational institutions, collaborating with other dental professionals, such as dental hygienists and dental assistants, to provide optimal care for their patients.

To become a dentist, an individual must possess a strong foundation in science, excellent manual dexterity, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. They must also complete a rigorous educational and training process, which typically includes obtaining a bachelor's degree, followed by four years of dental school to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. Upon graduation, dentists must pass a series of national and state examinations to obtain licensure and maintain it through ongoing continuing education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional dental care to patients, diagnosing and treating dental conditions.
  • Perform procedures including cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges, and dental implants.
  • Offer preventive care and educate patients on oral hygiene and diet.
  • Work collaboratively with dental hygienists, assistants, and other health professionals.
  • Maintain licensure and comply with state and national regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
  • State licensure to practice dentistry.
  • In addition, a dentist may choose to specialize (e.g., orthodontics, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery) requiring additional training and certification.
Additional Opportunities

Associate dentists and managing clinical directors may have opportunities to lead clinical teams and participate in professional development and continuing education.
