Job description

Overview

We’re seeking a dedicated General Dentist to join our mission-driven team, providing exceptional care to our community. In this role, you’ll deliver a full range of dental services—both routine and emergency—while mentoring residents, collaborating with staff, and making a tangible impact on patients’ lives. Enjoy a competitive salary, generous benefits, a $15,000 sign-on bonus, and the unique reward of serving Hawai‘i’s diverse and vibrant community.

Our General Dentist provides comprehensive and appropriate dental care and treatment to adult patients and may occasionally treat adolescents—routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans, general restorative procedures, uncomplicated endodontics, minor oral surgery, and hospital OR surgery. The dentist will mentor and supervise general dental residents, programs, and staff, as assigned, including dental assistants and dental hygienists.

Our hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour meal break. This position is available in the April to June 2026 timeframe.

Responsibilities
  • Provide routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans, general restorative procedures, uncomplicated endodontics, and minor oral surgery.
  • Initiate and interpret X-ray and lab studies.
  • Administer and prescribe anesthetics and medications.
  • Refer patients for specialty care to other clinic programs or outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Conduct follow-up patient care.
  • Provide dental and oral health education to patients and families.
  • Assist in reviewing clinic productivity, scheduling procedures, and establishing guidelines for care and treatment.
  • Teach and train patients and staff on illness prevention.
  • Actively participate in community dental programs.
  • Assist with in-service and ongoing training of clinic staff and dental residents.
  • Build relationships and foster a high level of customer service.
  • Manage demanding clients and patients, demonstrating interpersonal savvy and influence skills.
  • Exercise professional judgment in providing services consistent with the organization’s policies and the standards of the dental profession.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competency in dental practice and charting requirements in EMR.
  • Perform assigned dental tasks with high skill and ability.
  • Computer and database proficiency.
  • Utilize and monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of all equipment and supplies used to deliver services.
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats.
  • Implement and evaluate operational and administrative processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dental Director.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A DDS or DMD from an accredited educational institution.
  • Completed a General Dental Residency program or equivalent.
  • State of Hawaii current license.
  • Ability to be credentialed with the clinic’s health plans, current TB and BLS CPR.
  • Demonstrated expertise in relevant dental practices, protocols, trends, and best practices in dentistry with at least one (1) year of dentistry experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills and competency in ambulatory care.
  • Familiarity with Hawai‘i and its diverse cultures preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and emergencies successfully.

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a $15,000 sign-on bonus, CDE up to $3,600 plus 5 paid days, excellent benefits, generous paid time off, and a friendly work environment. The salary range is $150,000 to $160,000 annually.
