Job summary

Waco Family Medicine is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive, high-quality oral health care in a federally qualified health center setting. You will work within an integrated care team to improve oral and overall health outcomes in a community-focused environment.

Responsibilities include full-scope dental services, emergency care, radiograph interpretation, patient education, and collaboration with medical and behavioral health teams to support integrated care.

Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Current state dental license (or eligibility) and in good standing.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Commitment to serving underserved communities and advancing health equity.

Position Summary

The Dentist provides comprehensive, high‑quality oral health care to patients in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. This role emphasizes clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and service to diverse, underserved, and vulnerable populations. The Dentist works as part of an integrated care team to improve oral and overall health outcomes within a community‑based, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
  • Perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Provide general dental services including restorations, extractions, endodontic procedures, crowns, dentures/partials, periodontal treatments, and preventive care.
  • Deliver emergency dental services, including pain management and urgent procedures.
  • Interpret dental radiographs and other diagnostic results.
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based clinical guidelines and quality standards.
Patient-Centered Care & Education
  • Educate patients on oral health, hygiene practices, treatment options, and preventive strategies.
  • Engage in culturally competent communication with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Promote patient involvement in treatment planning and shared decision‑making.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
  • Collaborate with medical, behavioral health, and care coordination teams to support integrated care.
  • Participate in case reviews, huddles, and care coordination activities as needed.
  • Provide consultation to other health professionals regarding oral health concerns.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Comply with all FQHC, federal, state, and local regulations, including HRSA, UDS reporting standards, OSHA, and infection control protocols.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, including clinical audits and performance metrics.
Community & Public Health Engagement
  • Participate in community outreach, school‑based programs, or mobile/teledentistry initiatives as assigned.
  • Contribute to public health goals, oral health promotion, and population health strategies.
Qualifications
  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Current state dental license (or eligibility for licensure) and in good standing.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Commitment to serving underserved communities and advancing health equity.
Preferred
  • Experience working in an FQHC, CHC, or public health environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic dental records (EDR) systems.
  • Experience with bilingual or multicultural populations.
  • Eligibility for federal loan repayment programs (NHSC/LRP).
